On the 24th August, one of our female Buffy-headed capuchin monkeys, Barney, gave birth to a single offspring.

Since then, both mum and baby are doing well and the rest of the group are intrigued by the new arrival! Buffy-headed capuchins only come from small areas of the rainforest on the Atlantic coast of Brazil. Deforestation, pet trade and being hunted for their meat has seen the monkey being named as one world’s 25 most endangered primates according to the IUCN red list.

If you want to see how our mum and baby are getting on, their enclosure is located to the right of the main entrance, near soft play are Jungle Tumble.
