On the 16th March Colchester Zoo welcomed a new arrival from Thoiry Zoo in France; a 9 year old male wolf called Kera.
When Kera first arrived he was introduced to his new home whilst resident male wolf Dakota was moved off show to a separate home to allow Kera to settle in.
After a few weeks of being able to see and hear each other through their neighbouring homes the two males had the chance to meet and after the inital few weeks getting to know one another they are now firm friends.
Wolves are known for having a more dominant member of the pack and time will tell whether Dakota or Kera take this role. We are also hoping this new pair will become a pack later in the year when we hope to welcome two more wolves.
