Internationally renowned sculptor and mosaic artist Anne Schwegmann-Fielding has completed a mosaic Koi sculpture to go amongst the Japanese inspired gardens which are currently being completed in our Koi Niwa area. Check out the time lapse video below to see the sculpture being created!

Anne has been creating a wide range of works for public and corporate clients since the mid 1990's. There is a strong emphasis on recycled materials in her work; her aim being to make the ordinary, extraordinary. She has won several awards and appeared on numerous television programmes with her work currently displayed in both private and public collections around the world.

koi2The exhibit in which this sculpture stands is based on the style of a typical Japanese garden with statues, ornaments and waterfalls. This links into the Koi carp and Japanese Bitterling found within the two large pools inside Koi Niwa.

This sculpture will now be a permanent fixture within the zoo and you can see it for yourself by visiting the Koi Niwa gardens.
