Vulture-chick-smallIn April Colchester Zoo welcomed two young vulture chicks and it was later confirmed we have welcomed one male and one female!
For the second year in a row our original breeding couples swapped with Gomez & Hyde welcoming a female chick and Jekyll & Morticia welcoming a male!

Both young birds continue to do well with all parents proving to be very attentive and they are now spending their time away from the nests and learning life as a vulture!

Stop by Vulture Valley at the back of the Kingdom of the Wild house and see our group as these young birds continue to grow bigger and stronger by the day!

Ruppell’s Griffon Vultures such as ours are currently listed as endangered and so our two new arrivals are fantastic news for this species.
