On the 10th July, we announced that our female Kirk Dik Dik Daenerys gave birth to a single calf!  We can now confirm that our young calf is male and his keepers have since named him Davos.

The dik-dik is one of the smallest members of the antelope family measuring a maximum of 45cm high with a maximum body length of 80cm. The small antelope has a distinctive prehensile nose which can be freely moved around and is slightly forked at the end. This helps the dik-dik to grasp food when browsing on bushes!

Kirk’s dik-dik are currently listed as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

The new calf and its parents can be seen at the Edge of Africa along with our Crowned Cranes who they share their home with.

See if you can spot the new arrival on your next visit!
