As the weather continues to stay warm we’re keeping our animals cool this Summer! Our animals love some ice cubes, a sprinkler or a good hose down, but for our llamas and alpacas it is a good summer haircut which they enjoy!
Last week our llamas and alpacas enjoyed their summer shearing makeover as keepers relieved them of their warm winter coats! The fleece is surprisingly thick and heavy and without it, both the llamas and alpaca look significantly smaller! 
Make sure you pay them a visit at ‘Southern Wild’ near our ‘Wallaby Walkabout’ and don’t forget to compliment their new doo!
Their winter coats are recycled as they are given to some of our big cats as enrichment; the fleece is used to dress up boxes to stimulate their senses and allow them to use their amazing instincts such as their hunting behaviour.
