The purpose of his trip was to work with the staff and animals as a consultant, sharing some of the training and enrichment methods, enclosure designs and education techniques we use here in the UK. Colchester Zoo also donated some of our own equipment for Dave to take with him on his travels including clickers, head collars and some research and education books to pass onto the zoos keepers.

During his trip, Dave also worked very closely with the West African Primate Conservation Action (WAPCA) this is a local non-profit group who work to preserve primate species in the West-African Upper Guinean Rainforest.  They do this by working with local communities and education as well as their Endangered Primate Breeding Centre within the grounds of the Accra Zoo.

Due to the success of the trip Dave will stay in touch with the teams in Ghana and will be returning later this year to continue this great work.
