Following the departure of female white rhino Pembe in July, who left Colchester Zoo to join a new crash and hopefully have a family of her own, we welcomed another young female white rhino from Cotswolds Wildlife Park!

astrid babyAstrid arrived at Colchester Zoo on the 13th July and has continued to settle in well over the summer, spending time with our other female rhinos and young male Mabaso. She has also begun to explore the main paddock and has gotten used to sharing her home with other African species in our mixed paddock.

Astrid was born on the 1st July 2013 and was the first ever rhino to be born at Cotswolds Wildlife Park. She is now fully grown but can still be spotted by the small nick in her left ear which she has had since she was young.

We'll keep you updated on her progress as she meets our giraffe in the coming months.

Check this video of Astrid arriving at her new home!
