collectingHumboldt penguins are monogamous and work hard as a pair to create the perfect nest to lay their eggs. The main breeding seasons are from March to April and September to October so now is the perfect time to begin the build!

Our penguin pairs have been busy over the last few weeks collecting sticks, leaves and moss to use for their nests. They use the material to line their artificial caves within their enclosure; these act as a similar location to the crevices in rocks and cliffs that these birds would use in the wild.
