young flamingoOn the 9th May Colchester Zoo welcomed a number of Chilean Flamingos from the Isle of Wight to join our flock down on the lake! The new arrivals are a young group and were gradually being mixed with our existing flock to become a larger group.

Colchester Zoo welcomed a young chick named Pob, from a successful breeding pair on the lake back in 2014, now all grown up it will be great to introduce Pob and the rest of the flock to some more new arrivals and increase our number of these brightly coloured flamboyant birds which are always popular with our visitors.

The latest arrivals to the group are impossible to spot amougst the sea of pink feathers but if you stop by the lake you will see this fantastic flock!

Flamingos are currently listed as Near Threatened on the IUCN red list
