On the 10^th February Colchester Zoo welcomed a female short clawed otter named Priya from the New Forest Wildlife Park. Priya arrived to join our resident male Ravi after the sad loss of his late partner Lena at the start of 2016. After just a few days together the two have already hit it off and are enjoying getting to know each other with Ravi showing Priya all around their home. They’ve also been enjoying some fantastic enrichment from their keepers with Ravi keen to show Priya how it’s done!

Asian short clawed otters such as our new pair are the smallest of all otter species and as the name suggests they also have the smallest claws.

It’s still early days for this new couple but all signs point to a happy pairing which we hope will last for years to come – they are just Otterly adorable!
